Lee Sang Yoon : “Kim Hye Su’s advice “There’s no need to change one’s image” stuck with me.”

Lee Sang Yoon shared that actress Kim Hye Su sunbaenim impressed him with her advice.  At an interview in Samcheong-dong recently, Lee Sang Yoon said “In the past, Kim Hye Su sunabenim’s advice struck him deeply.

Lee Sang Yoon continued “In the past,  I have this ‘eomchinah” image which I wanted to break by trying to take on roles that are the total opposite of the eomchinah image but Kim Hye Su sunbaenim said “Why try to change the image?  The image of being a glamorous actress always followed me around.  However, don’t try to force yourself to change the image.  Rather, make your strengths and positive qualities even more vibrant.  You can always add a new dimension to that image to make the character even more unique.”

Lee Sang Yoon said that now, he does not try to change his ”eomchinah” image but will try to raise the image to another level by bringing/adding a new look/dimension. He said the advice byKim Hye Su, the KBS Daesang winner and his sunbaenim in the drama Home Sweet Home, really touched him.

Enjoyed reading this article.  Lee Sang Yoon talked candidly about his own view on the “eomchinah” image and the advice given to him by the veteran actress, Kim Hye Su.  He has been incredibly lucky to have worked with awesome “nuna” actresses such as Kim Hye Su and Lee Bo Young, both Daesang winners in their own right.  

He has won ‘Best New Actor’ award at MBC for ‘Home Sweet Home’, ‘Best Couple’ award with Lee Bo Young at KBS. for ‘My Daughter Seo Young’.  Keeping fingers crossed that he will pick up an award or two at this year’s SBS Drama Awards for his stirring performance as Park Dong Joo in ‘Angel Eyes’ with Goo Hye Sun.  Perhaps another ‘Best Couple’ or ‘Best Kiss” if there is such a category XD  

Lee Sang Yoon won the MBC’s Best New Actor Award for ‘Home Sweet Home’ in 2010

In 2010, Lee Sang Yoon won his first acting award from one of the three major national TV networks in SK for his role as a private investigator in MBC’s “Home Sweet Home”.  His only other acting award prior to this was the Korea Broadcasting Awards Rookie Talent Award he won for “I Love You, Don’t Cry” in 2009.

2010 MBC Drama Awards report by Dramabeans:  Lee Sang-yoon wears his tux nicely as he picks up a win for Home Sweet Home. Well, the tux looks nice as long as you don’t zoom in close and recognize your gramma’s old couch material — the nice one, for when the gentleman callers come by — repurposed into his jacket.
